I can't tell you how often people throw their money away ordering seeds from catalogs that they get in the mail. Stop paying anything from a dollar to several dollars for just a handful of seeds. I am going to help you save some of that hard earned money by giving you some good advice on how to get seeds for free.

Here are some helpful tips that will get you free seeds with little or no effort at all. This information is good for fruits, veggies and flowers. Following these simple tips will help you have a great garden and save money doing it.

First let's look at the problem logically. Most plants start out as seeds. Those seeds become more plants with more seeds. Great, but where do you get the seeds to start with? It makes me smile when people ask how to get free seeds. Odds are they have been throwing them away for years and never really thought about it.

If you're anything like me you buy groceries on a regular basis. If you're anything like 99% of Americans you also throw away the seeds from many of your fruits and veggies. Next time you go to the grocery store and buy fruits and veggies save some of the seeds. Place the seeds in a cool dry place. In a few days take those seeds and put them in a plastic baggy then label it.

Here is another great tip. If you're like me you know other gardeners in your area. If they have a plant you like ask for a few seeds and offer them some of yours. Start them yourself and harvest them later for more seeds. The supply is endless. Remember you can do this through out the year and they will keep until your ready to plant. This will also help you get to know more about what grows well in your area from other gardeners.

Flowers can be done the same way. All you have to do is let the blooms die and have a baggy ready when you're ready to dead head. A great way to share the flowers you love and get to grow new ones is to place an ad offering to exchange seeds with people in your area. Start a seed swapping club and find some people to trade with in other areas. You never know what great information and seeds will come your way.
